The honest numbers

There is no single success rate for rehab, luxury or otherwise, because programs measure “success” differently. What research does show: relapse rates for substance use disorders are about 40% to 60%, similar to other chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure and asthma. Relapse means treatment needs adjusting, not that it failed.

Be wary of any program that advertises a 90% or 95% success rate without telling you how it was measured, over what time, and for whom.

What predicts good outcomes

These matter far more than thread count.

Enough time

Staying in treatment long enough, often 90 days of total care, is linked to better outcomes.

Treating the whole picture

Treating co-occurring anxiety, depression or trauma alongside substance use.

Medication when it fits

Medications for alcohol and opioid use disorder lower relapse and overdose risk.

Aftercare

Outpatient therapy, support groups and sober living after the stay.

Where luxury genuinely helps

Privacy, comfort and small groups help some people agree to treatment, and stay in it. For executives, public figures or anyone afraid of being seen, that can be the difference between going and not going.

Luxury doesn’t help if it replaces clinical care. How to choose a luxury rehab.

What is the most successful rehab?

No facility has an independently verified “highest success rate.” Look for licensing, accreditation, evidence-based therapy, medication options and aftercare.

What percent of people relapse after rehab?

About 40% to 60% relapse at some point, similar to other chronic illnesses. Many go on to long-term recovery.

Is 30 days enough?

For some people, as a start. Many benefit from 60 to 90 days of total care, including outpatient.

Does at-home detox work?

At-home detox handles withdrawal safely for the right person. Ongoing treatment afterwards is what drives long-term recovery.
